Welcome to my portfolio! This site presents my work as a teacher, learner, and researcher.

As the daughter of a science teacher and a school administrator, a former science teacher who taught middle-school science for eight years, and a teaching assistant who has taught at the college level for five years, I would like to continue my career as an educator and a researcher who prepares students to critically assess scientific ideas, to understand the implications of those ideas for society as a whole, and to communicate science effectively to others.

I earned my B.S. in Science Education at Boğaziçi University (2005) and then worked for eight years as a middle-school science teacher (2005-2013). I have completed my Masters’ Degree in Primary Education (2016) and worked as a research assistant in my department.

After earning my Master’s Degree, I started my Ph.D. in Science Education at Syracuse University (2016). I worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Science Teaching and taught a sequence of an introductory physical science course for non-science majors (2016-2018). I have received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2018. I also worked as a research assistant and then as a consultant on Dr. John Tillotson’s NSF project (2018-2020).

I earned my Ph.D. degree in 2019. Currently, I am working as an assistant professor of science education at Boğaziçi University and I have received the Excellence in Teaching Award in the Faculty of Education in 2020.
